Harper Party!

Out of everyone in our family, Harper is the one closest in age to Wendy. They're going to be best cousins. Well, actually, he's my cousin. So I guess they're best... 2nd cousins? ...1st cousins once removed? Whatever. Today we got to hang out with Harper while Ruth went to cooking class. He is so much fun & such a flirt! Wendy was very patient with me while I flirted back. Ryan says he's going to break the hearts of all of Wendy's friends one day. He's probably right.

The not so quiet life of MRS. Whispers- part II

When I started blogging, I thought I would be able to share tons of "Funny Ryan Stories" with the world, but as it turns out, most of his funny stories are pretty inappropriate. I want to share them, but I'm embarrassed at the thought of who might be reading this. It's not like Ryan is a child- which would make his "Ryanisms" innocent, and therefore, more acceptable. So PLEASE, somebody be the type of person to let me know I have broccoli stuck in my teeth and tell me if I'm making a mistake by sharing this type of information.

We sit down at the table to eat dinner, and I see Ryan rearranging my table setting. (This is not the first time he's set things up this way)

Ryan:
Hey, what does this look like?
Me: (sarcastically) Haha, very funny. My salt & pepper shakers do not look like balls.
Ryan: Sorry, but they do.
Me: No, they don't. They are perfect circles. Balls are shriveled up, like giant raisins. Balls are ugly.
Ryan: No they're not, I like them.
Me: (trying to make him feel stupid) You like BALLS?
Ryan: I like my balls.
Me: You are CONCEDED about your BALLS?
Ryan: (smirking) Yeah... (with a "matter-of-fact" tone of voice) they're pretty big.

I laughed so hard I cried. He was serious. Sometimes I'm pretty sure I'm married to a 15 year old.

Tonight's the Night

*Wendy's 1st night home, 4 days old

*Wendy's last night in our room, 4 1/2 months old

What happened to my tiny newborn? I bet if I stare at her long enough, I'd be able to see her growing, just like one of those time lapse videos where something is filmed over a long period of time then sped up so you can see things evolving. I always said, "3 months, then she's outta here!" It's now been 41/2 months and she hasn't slept in her own room yet.

I've procrastinated long enough. I'm just lazy & don't want to get out of bed and walk across the cold floor to her room to feed her in the middle of the night. But TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! Hopefully I'll sleep better when I can't hear every little noise she makes. Hopefully SHE'LL sleep better in a soft crib that's actually big enough for her. Wish me luck.

The best things in life...

*...are only $14.99 at your local Ralphs :)

Whose husband brings them flowers when they've had a bad day?

Mine does. What a sweet-heart. It never ceases to flatter me when he listens to my woes and then goes out of his way to help me feel better. I think he learned this from his father (thank you Larry for being a good example of a father & husband). And thank you Ryan, for brightening up my day.

Lady Luck

I have got to be one of the luckiest girls in he world. (Some days I need to remind myself, but it's true). I was really dreading going back to work and leaving my precious baby behind, but it has turned out okay. More than okay. Here's why: I only work 2 days a week, I'm off by 4pm, quality daddy-daughter time (Ryan gets up with her, feeds her, gets her dressed & drops her off, without me, the "expert", hanging over his shoulder telling him how to do everything), AND I have two wonderful grandma's (who I trust, who live close by, and who are FREE) to babysit!

On MONDAYS, my mom watches Wendy. My favorite part of Monday's with Grandma Lamb is the fact that she brings Wendy to me on my lunch break! Mondays are a drag, but getting to see Wendy & feed her in the middle of the day helps me get through. Could my mom be anymore awesome?

* Wendy LOVES it when Grandpa Williams plays music to her!
it melts my heart

On TUESDAYS, Bobbi & Larry watch Wendy. My favorite part about Tuesdays with "Grammie" is the fact that every Tuesday, when I go to pick up Wendy, Bobbi has a nice home-cooked meal all ready for me to take home to Ryan. Usually some great mexican dish! I feel so blessed to have such wonderful parents who help me out so much. I don't know what I would do without them. Probably have to leave Wendy with someone less than perfect OR move to some cheaper state, like Arkansas, so I wouldn't have to work.

Multi-tasker Disaster

If you try to kill 2 birds with one stone, you'll miss the birds and lose your stone. I've had to learn this the hard way. So I confess, I am a multi-tasker. It's not a good thing.  You can't do 2 things at once and do both of them to the best of your abilities, it's just not possible. For example: drive & talk on your cell phone (hence the new law), go to the movies while studying your 3x5 note cards for a test, try to listen to the sacrament speaker while planning your primary lesson, etc.

But my worst multi-tasker habit is when I have a lot of stuff to carry. I don't like to make 2 trips. Especially after grocery shopping. I can't leave my baby OR my ice cream in the car, so I have to get everything the 1st trip. It really is a sight to see. Me, carrying: my baby in her car-seat, diaper bag, BIG ol' purse, and ALL my groceries. As you probably guessed, it finally backfired on me. I dropped something heavy & sharp and broke my left pinky toe! Good one Heather. So please, learn from my mistakes. Let's all try doing things one at a time.
